Desert Valley Creative Learning Collaborative
Desert Valley Creative Learning Collaborative is an education support group for homeschoolers that was founded in 2011. While our leadership and many of our members, share a love for God and Christian faith, everyone is welcome in our learning environment.
It is our desire to provide a caring, creative learning environment where children can have abundant opportunities to enjoy personal as well as public success.
DVCLC meets on Mondays in Indio, CA from 9:30 a.m – 2:00 p.m.
Co-op is a unique, parent-led program that offers students a full day of classes, with a variety of choices to enrich the lives of your students. We have found that when parents are able to teach things that they love and are interested in, they bless our students with amazingly creative classes! We offer both academic and elective classes, at 50 minutes per class, along with a 1 hour lunch break. Students can take as many as three classes per session, but are not required to attend the full day. Our Pre-K/Kindergarten group follows a slightly different schedule to meet their needs. At least one parent from each family is required to actively participate throughout the entire co-op day by volunteering each hour in one of our many volunteer positions. This is the only way we have found to make this type of co-op work efficiently and enjoyably for all involved.

These funds help pay for insurance, rent, and operating costs. The following costs are for the full day of co-op, for a 6-week session. The session fee is based on family size. Only children ages 5 and up count toward family size; nursery/preschool (ages 0-4) are free: 1 student – $45 2 students – $65 3 students – $85 4 students – $100 5 or more students – $110 Some classes that require a lot of supplies have additional fees. These are noted up front when registering. Please note: the teacher discount has been paused.
DVCLC is a non-profit group, is not affiliated with any charter school and cannot accept Charter School funds. School funds may be used toward approved vendor taught classes (when offered).
Due to California licensing regulations and liability issues, we require that a parent or guardian be on campus AT ALL TIMES for every student and child that is in attendance. Some exceptions can be made, on occasion. Please speak with a Board Member about these exceptions. Board Member approval will be required. If a student is brought to co-op by a family member, other than their parent, a Request for Adult Relative/Family Friend to Supervise and Provide Care for Student (found on the website under “Resources”) will need to be filled out ahead of time by the parent and signed, giving permission for that person to bring the student to co-op. That designated relative will need to remain on site with the student the entire time and may need to full fill some of the parents volunteer responsibilities unless other arrangements were made with a fellow DVCLC participant.
We really do depend on each other to ensure the success of our co-op. Every parent participates. If you’re not quite ready to teach, we have plenty other opportunities for you to pitch in. You will sign up for your volunteer positions at the time of registration.
Our kids take as many as three classes during the co-op day, but they are not required to attend the full day.
